While selecting a dream vacation zone, many places came to mind. However, ranking the highest among all other locations is the beautiful city of Dubai, located in the United Arab Emirates. This city offers an amazing amount of attractions, and is a destination everyone must visit. Listed below are some of the factors that pulled myself towards choosing Dubai.

1) The breathtaking futuristic architecture and limitless attractions. Dubai houses some of the world’s most interesting buildings, many of which cannot be found elsewhere. Some examples include the Burj Khalifa, (tallest building in the World) The Burj Al Arab, (a seven star hotel, also the worlds fourth tallest building) the man made Palm islands, and the Jumeirah hotel and towers. However, not all of Dubai’s buildings are design masterpieces. I also look forwards to exploring the Bastakia Quarter and Jumeirah Mosque, which will unveil the traditional side of the city. And if the heat and sand gets too much for me, I’ll cool off with a couple of runs Ski Dubai: an indoor ski resort located in the Mall of the Emirates (one of the largest malls in the world). If there any funds left in my wallet after that visit, I’ll take a pit stop at the Dubai mall, which comes complete with an indoor aquarium and ice rink. This will be followed by a stroll through the Gold Souk, known for its cheap gold. These are only a few examples of the wonders that the city holds, Dubai presents endless possibilities.

2) The blissful climate, gorgeous beaches, and the majestic deserts. While Dubai is a green city with lush landscapes, it is essentially built on a desert. (Which is probably why the United Arab Emirates is one of the largest consumers of water on Earth). While here, I want to participate in a Desert Safari to take a peek at whats outside of the city. Dubai also hosts a warm tropical climate, which is perfect for escaping the Canadian cold. Hot temperatures means sun touched skin, so of course there needs to be a stop by the beaches. The city has long stretches of alluring beaches. I plan to visit the premium Jumeirah and Al Mumzar beach parks. There is also the free beach of Umm Suqeim, also known as kite beach. (Due to the high amounts of kite-surfers)

3) To experience culture in a foreign country. Spending most of my time in Canada, Dubai’s charming culture, religion, and language offers an unparalleled experience. I believe culture generally represents a large group of people. Therefore, immersing myself in as any different locations as possible allows me to understand and value cultural diversity. By having an opportunity to visit Dubai, a city so different from Canada would provide me with an eye opening experience and allow me to see their perspective on life.

4) Indulge in delicious dishes. While visiting the city, I plan to eat a copious amount. Dubai offers a large variety of restaurants, prices ranging from pocket change to bankruptcy on a plate. There are restaurants serving every cuisine you could imagine in the world, but my main focus will be on Arabic delicacies. A few on my list include the Michelin Star winning restaurants located in the  Grosvenor House Hotel and Hilton Dubai Creek. Bastakiah Nights also presents a beautiful view of the night sky with its rooftop area and allows me to satisfy my appetite for Arabic dishes.
